What's VoIP?
VoIP (or Voice over Internet Protocol) is a great new way to make and receive phone calls using your broadband Internet connection instead of your standard phone line. Pigeon converts your phone calls into data that zips through your Internet connection. It comes out the other end just like a regular phone call. Your callers will never know that it's any different since it sounds just like a regular phone call.

What's Broadband?
Broadband is high-speed Internet access connection. It gives you a continuous connection to the Internet at speeds much faster than dial-up. You need a broadband connection to use Pigeon because we insist on consistent high quality audio for all your calls. As a general rule, if you're getting speeds of 90 Kbps or better, you probably have a broadband connection.

What's Pigeon?
Pigeon is an all-inclusive phone service. Pigeon gives you long distance & local calling for low price. We can do this because we use your existing Internet connection instead of standard phone lines. You'll save money and get great features like Caller ID, Call forwarding, etc at no additional cost.

What is my Username & Password for?
This is the key to your Pigeon Online Account. It is a secure online account management system that allows you to see your billing information, real-time call information and to use the really cool features that Pigeon provides at no extra cost.

I'd like to Change My Password?
You can change your Pigeon Online Account password at any time:

• Log into your Pigeon Online Account by entering your username and password
• Click User ProfileUnder User Information, click Change Account Password
• Enter the required information, and click Submit Changes.

Will anyone be able to call me?
Yes. Pigeon VoIP account includes a FREE In-dial number, so it’s just like a conventional telephone service. Anyone can call you from anywhere and you can call anyone across the globe.

Is making VoIP call any different to a normal telephone call? 

No. The only difference is with the initial set-up of the VoIP connection in which the telephone is connected to a VoIP gateway box or VoIP-enabled modem/router, instead of the conventional telephone socket on the wall. Once set-up is complete, you can use VoIP the same way you would a normal telephone.
With Pigeon VoIP you will have access to all the features of a normal telephone and more, including:

• You will be assigned normal 9-digit telephone number
• You can make & receive phone calls to and from any other person on the public telephone network (PSTN)
• You can make local, STD and IDD calls to other fixed line and mobile users - anywhere in the world

While I travel, can I take my Pigeon phone number with me?
If you are travelling, simply take your phone adapter with you. Your phone number is programmed into the equipment so you do not have to change a thing. Simply plug your phone adapter into a high-speed Internet connection anywhere and your Pigeon line is ready to go!

Can I use my computer while I'm on the phone?
Yes. You can talk on the phone and surf the Internet at the same time.

What equipment do I need?
You require Pigeon ATA & normal desk phone which will be connected to your existing internet connection.

So what plugs into what - and where?
Instead of plugging your desk phone into a telephone socket on the wall, you connect it to your internet connection, using the Pigeon adaptor.

Does my computer need to be on?
No. You just need to have broadband. Pigeon isn't PC-dependant.

Do the people I call need their computer switched on?
No. You can use Pigeon to call any landline or mobile, anywhere in the world. It's not PC-to-PC. It's just the same as a traditional phone service, only cheaper.

Will I need to change my broadband provider?
No. Pigeon works over any broadband connection.

Does Pigeon sell broadband services?
Pigeon is a telephone service provided by Direct On PC; the leading ISP in Nigeria. You can subscribe a broadband connection from Direct On PC.

Do the people I call need to have broadband?
No. You can use Pigeon to call any landline or mobile, anywhere in the world. It doesn't matter if they haven't got broadband. It's just the same as a traditional phone service, only cheaper.

What if my broadband is down?
If you're broadband service goes down, you won't be able to make or receive calls using your Pigeon phone line. If this happens, contact your broadband service provider to resolve the problem.

Do I need a headset to talk?
No. Just a normal digital phone handset you're likely to be using already.

What are Pigeon-to-Pigeon calls?
You can call any other Pigeon user anywhere in the world for a minimal charge. Some families or businesses get two Pigeon lines: one stays at home, the other that 'travels'!

Can I call people who use other VoIP services?
Yes. You can dial any other telephone number, whether it's VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), an internet phone or a traditional phone service.

What's the call quality like?
Put it like this: people will have no idea you're making a call using your broadband connection.

How is Pigeon VoIP billed?
Pigeon VoIP is a pre-paid service. You can use your call credit to make calls at our listed call rates. When your credit runs low, you can recharge your call credit using convenient recharge cards available in the market.
